Michael Pachter Comments On Wii U

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter chimed in recently about the Wii U console:

“On Wii U: if you know what Bayonetta and Monster Hunter are, you will get one at any price; if not, you might wait for a price cut. On Wii U success/failure: I think that it will sell 50% as well as Wii, but will start as well because of fan base and supply constraints. Wii U has two potential markets: hard core, who WILL buy it; and casual, who have a lot of alternatives. Casual competition threatens all 3. I think Wii was 50% casual, 50% core; 360 was 65/35; PS3 85/15. Casual alternatives (tablets, phones, social) hurt Nintendo more than others.”

It’s Crush Hour!

But along his travels, he discovered that the evil Arkeyan King was also searching for rocks – to melt down into weapons of war. Crusher’s fury built up like an avalanche. After all, crushing was his job! So he put aside his life’s passion and decided to use his hammer for a greater purpose – crushing Arkeyan Robots!

Rumor: Nintendo.com Leaks NA Wii U Launch Day Lineup?

Nintendo.com profile pages for the following games all have their release dates listed as 11/18/12, which as we know is the Wii U launch date: Rayman Legends, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed III, ZombiU, Mass Effect 3: Special Edition, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Rabbids Land, Just Dance 4, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Madden NFL 13, NBA 2K13, Transformers Prime, Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013, Game Party Champions, and ESPN Sports Connection, even though Nintendo only mentioned the “launch window” term during the Wii U Preview Event.

Interestingly, for Black Ops 2, it says “Launching this November 18th, Call of Duty: Black Ops II delivers the most groundbreaking and viscerally immersive Call of duty® experience yet.“ Which makes it seem like it could possibly not be a typo or just a placeholder.

Of course New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, and Darksiders II are already confirmed as launch titles and thus are listed as being released on November 18th. Other Wii U games listed on Nintendo.com either have Holiday 2012 or TBD listed as their release dates.

If this holds true, there could be a lot to choose from for launch day gamers. Which titles do you plan to pick up when the Wii U launches (assuming this line-up is accurate? I’m still not sold on getting the system at launch, but if I were, I’d get NSMBU, Nintendo Land (with the Deluxe/Premium Set), and that’s it. The other games I’m either not interested in or are already available on other systems or soon will be.
