Another Dead Or Alive 5 Review

A portion of a Joystiq review for Dead or Alive 5:

“Evaluating the plot in Dead or Alive 5 is ultimately a waste of words. Oh, you can make a qualitative judgment – observe that it somehow manages to be a train wreck, a plane wreck and a car crash all in one. It’s like watching all combustible vehicles on Earth hurtle into each other at a singular point of stupidity, and then burning in the consequent fireball of awkward, unintentional comedy.

But we survive, insulated by apathy. What matters is that Dead or Alive 5 is an excellent fighting game.”

Minecraft To Skip Windows 8 Certification

Apparently Minecraft will not be certified for Windows 8, which is due to release next month on 10/26/12. Minecraft developer Markus Persson (AKA Notch) had this to say about Windows 8:

“Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help “certify” minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform. I’d rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way..”

This does not mean that Minecraft will not work with Windows 8, it simply means that it won’t be “Certified By Microsoft.” Which considering Minecraft is not a boxed game, doesn’t seem to really matter much since it all it really amounts to is a sticker on a box.

Rumor: Maple Story Publisher Wants To Buy Valve For $893 Million

According to GameTrailers, rumor has it that Maple Story publisher Nexon, a Korean developer & publisher is looking to buy Valve. They’ve apparently offered $893 million for the Half-Life & Steam company, which is far less than the $1 billion EA recently offered and Valve reject that, so I doubt they will sell to Nexon for less. If they seriously want to buy Valve, they should double or triple EA’s offer.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Interview

GameSpot has an interview about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance up with Platinum Games’ Atsushi Inaba and Kenji Saito & Yuji Korekado from Kojima Productions. Here’s part of the interview:

Q: Regarding the recently announced DLC, will it be free or paid, and is there a chance there will be extra characters available for download?

A: We are still in the process of planning it, so we can’t say what form it will take, but we can say it will be fairly deep download content and will include a sub-story that we think users will enjoy. We hope you’ll look forward to it, and we’ll announce later on whether it will be free or paid DLC.

Q: Is there any sort of multiplayer in Rising? There are numerous cyborgs in the game, and we are wondering if there’s any way users can compete in head-to-head battles, either locally or online?

A: Currently, there are no plans.

Halo 4 With Kinect? No Says 343 Industries

Microsoft has previously stated that all first-party Xbox 360 games would feature some sort of Kinect usage, but now it appears that Halo 4 will not use the accessory according to a GameSpot interview:

“Halo is a core game series, and more than many others is directly linked to the muscle memory of holding an Xbox controller, going back as far as the days of the Duke on the first Xbox,” O’Connor said. “Kinect is a logical extension of the UI, and with regards to some of the sci-fi themes we’re actually pretty excited about it, but not for the controls. That’s not what it’s for, and we would never try to shoehorn that into our game.”  -Halo Franchise Director Frank O’Connor

Morning LOL

This is actually a pretty good point. I mean why can’t Samus keep her gear for the next game? Though I guess that wouldn’t be as fun, but still, it’d be logical at least. Well she have it in the beginning of Metroid Prime, but that didn’t last long…
