SteelSeries Mobile Controller Preview

SteelSeries will soon be releasing a line of mobile gaming products called Freedom to Play. Kotaku has a preview up for what one would assume will be the flagship device for the line, the so-called Free Mobile Wireless Controller. Despite the name, the controller is not free, but has an MSRP of $79.99, which personally I think any controller over $40 is too expensive, but I digress. The controller works through Bluetooth technology. No word in the preview if games will have to be specifically programmed to work with it or not, but that wouldn’t be too surprising, since most of these non-surface (e.g. ones that aren’t like the Game Gripper) controllers tend to require that. You can also view more info about the device (including compatible games) on the SteelSeries product page. The Free Mobile Wireless Controller will be compatible with Android & iOS devices as well PC & Mac OS.

Remnants Of 38 Studios To Be Auctioned In October

38 Studios, the developer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning went out of business back in May and the state of Rhode Island (where the company was located) took control of their assets. The state announced that they will be auctioning off remaining computers, equipment, game consoles, etc. The auction is scheduled for 10/16/12. There are also Xbox 360 Development Kits included so far, but Microsoft wants them returned to them so they may not be made available for purchase.

Wii U Branded eShop Cards Coming Soon

Apparently there will be Wii U branded Nintendo eShop Cards available soon (probably around the Wii U launch date of 11/18/12). This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, considering they had Wii Points Cards shortly after Wii came out. Walmart is showing listings for Wii U and 3DS branded eShop cards that are available in $20, $35, and $50 amounts.
