Today Capcom released some info and a lot of media about their upcoming entry in the Lost Planet series, Lost Planet 3. Above is the logo and here’s the release date and some details about the game as seen on AllGamesBeta:

“Lost Planet 3 Confirmed For Release on June 25 in North North America and June 28 in Europe

The extreme conditions that characterized the Lost Planet series return, harsher than ever before, with the release of Lost Planet 3 across North America on June 25 and in Europe on June 28. The latest chapter in the Lost Planet series will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The trailer continues the story of Jim Peyton’s time on E.D.N. III as a NEVEC employee seeking out further sources of the planet’s energy supply T-Eng. During one of these missions, Jim comes under attack from E.D.N. III’s indigenous Akrid, causing his Utility Rig to fall down an icy fissure, leaving him unconscious and injured. Jim wakes to find himself in what appears to be a secret base, hidden beneath the planet’s frozen surface. On discovering he was rescued by one of the base’s inhabitants, Mira, the daughter of Snow Pirate leader, So’ichi, Jim realizes that NEVEC are not the only human inhabitants of E.D.N. III.

Will the Snow Pirates welcome NEVEC or will Jim have to face yet another hostile force on E.D.N. III?”

Capcom also released some concept art from the game as seen below:

Wired Review – Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney

professor layton vs ace attorney box art Wired Review Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney

Wired’s Chris Kohler has posted a review for Level-5 and Capcom’s crossover Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. Here is part of the review:

“After a full 40 hours of staring at my 3DS screen, I finally finished Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney a few days ago. Having downloaded the crossover game’s Japanese version (at over 70 bucks, easily the most expensive virtual purchase I’ve ever incurred across all media) when it came out in December, I spent four cross-country flights playing the thing and still was only halfway through. With it all behind me, I hate to say it but I feel like this crossover was a missed opportunity.

I love both of these series, Level-5′s logic-puzzle adventures about a brilliant English gentleman and Capcom’s series of courtroom dramas with their over-the-top characters. When this team-up was first announced I freaked out. It did, as we wrote at the time, seem like a chocolate-and-peanut-butter situation, the chance to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. And while fans of the two series (I imagine that the Venn diagram here is pretty close to just being a single circle) will certainly find some enjoyment in this one as well, it came out feeling like half a Layton game glued onto half an Ace Attorney game, something that won’t fully satisfy either group.”

Daily Recap For Tuesday, March 5th

Didn’t get to post a whole lot today. My day job decided it wanted to get busy again. Hopefully I’ll be able to post more tomorrow. Blizzard updated World of Warcraft to Patch 5.2 – The Thunder King today. I’m going to try to post some brief impressions of the patch so far by the end of the week. I was trying to do some of the new daily quests despite how much I hate dailies and counted probably at least 10 so far. That’s way too many in my opinion. It should be 4-5 at the most. I don’t feel like having to spend 2-3 hours doing nothing but dailies every day otherwise I’ll potentially get behind and hold back my guild. That annoys me, oh well. I’ll have more on this in my impressions I post later this week.

We also recently introduced a new feature to the site, This Day In Gaming History. Each day we will try to post about things that happened on that day in the past as it relates to video games/gaming. As always, thanks for checking out the blog and for any and all comments.
