Japan – Combination Prepaid eShop/Augmented Reality Cards Announced

During the Nintendo Direct event held by Nintendo Company Limited (NCL) today, President Satoru Iwata announced that they will be releasing a series of Combination Prepaid eShop/Augmented Reality Cards featuring characters from the Mario universe in Japan beginning on April 23rd. The cards can be used with downloadable AR-based 3DS software. The first title to utilize these cards is called Isshoni Photo (Take a Picture Together). This title will be free to download via QR code on the packaging of the cards. It will let you take photos with the characters and interact with them as well.

There will be six different cards with corresponding eShop values. Goomba, Mario, and Peach will be the first set (releasing April 23rd). They are worth 1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 yen respectively. The second set doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it will be Koopa Troopa, Luigi, and Bowser. Like the others, these will be worth 1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 yen respectively. No word yet if any/all of these will be released outside of Japan, but it’s a neat idea nonetheless. Check out some images here:

Resident Evil: Revelations – Release Info

resident evil revelations logo Resident Evil: Revelations Release Info
Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President at Capcom posted the following on the Capcom Unity Forums in regards to whether or not Resident Evil: Revelations would be available on the Wii U eShop the same day as the retail release:
“It should be digital day and date with retail on WiiU and PS3. For PC in North America, it’s already digital only. :)”

So those of you looking to pick up the game digitally can do so right away it looks like. I would assume this would mean you could get the game digitally at midnight, which is always cool to get it before stores normally open.
