Random Game Facts – Microsoft & Sega

microsoft sega fact Random Game Facts Microsoft & Sega

Well now, that would’ve been interesting. I don’t know if I agree with Microsoft regarding their opinion of Sega. Sega was doing fine until they tried to launch the 32X and Saturn at nearly the same time. The Sega CD wasn’t as successful as it could’ve been but it was easily far more successful than the 32X. If Sega hadn’t developed/released the 32X, they might still be console manufacturer today. Of course they also botched the Saturn launch as well which didn’t help matters. I think it all kind of snowballed together and made a big cluster out of everything. Sonic games could’ve retained the quality of the Genesis era ones if people such as Yuji Naka, Naoto Ōshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara hadn’t left the company. Though to be fair most of them left after the Dreamcast had already failed. Sega tried to do a lot of what Microsoft wound up doing just a few years later. Sega had their own version of Xbox Live called SegaNet for example. I think if the two companies combined their best assets, people, games, etc. They could’ve been even bigger than they are now.
