PlayStation 4′s Video Unlimited Differences

10830712683 d08babee6c o PlayStation 4s Video Unlimited Differences

Polygon has posted a story looking at the Video Unlimited service on PlayStation 4. According to their story, Mike Avitabile, who is the Director of Operations For Video says that the main difference for PS4 will be the cloud functionality. He says: “The Video Unlimited app is the way you access your library. It’s cloud-based and exists on any networked Sony device.”

The article also says that the PS4 will not actually download any content but will stream it through a technology known as DASH which stands for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. Mr. Avitabile says that Sony is considering allowing users to download content but they are focusing on the cloud features.

One last new thing regarding the PS4 version is that Video Unlimited will be its own app this time around.

Nintendo’s Holiday Line-Up – GamesRadar Editorial

10830654944 5cb19fde09 o Nintendos Holiday Line Up GamesRadar Editorial

David Houghton over on GamesRadar has an editorial posted where he discusses Nintendo and their holiday line-up and the competition they will face with the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One. In the editorial he makes the argument that Nintendo will have the best line-up of games this holiday season but no one will notice/care because of the launch of the new systems from Sony & Microsoft. A lot of what he says I personally agree with, but I’m not entirely sure that no one will care. I mean Nintendo gamers will care for sure. And parents who don’t want to or can’t afford to spend $400-500 on a new system when they just got one last year (assuming they already bought a Wii U for their kids), will be more willing to spend $60 or so on a game than nearly 10 times that plus additional money on a game for a new system.

PlayStation 4 Predicted To Outsell Xbox One By Analyst

According to CVG, analyst Piers Harding-Rolls, the head of games research at IHS, has forecast that the PlayStation 4 will outsell Xbox One for the next 4 years. He says that the two systems will sell 2.4 million and 2.2 million respectively by the end of 2013 and that PS4 will have sold 49 million by the end of 2017 and Xbox One will sell 38 million (a difference of 11 million in favor of PS4 by 2018). I could see this happening perhaps given the price difference and the bad taste Microsoft left with people over their since changed policies regarding used games and the like on the Xbox One.

BioShock Infinite (PC): Burial at Sea Episode One DLC – PC Gamer Review

bioshock infinite logo BioShock Infinite (PC): Burial at Sea Episode One DLC PC Gamer Review

PC Gamer has a review posted for the new DLC for BioShock Infinite, Burial at Sea Episode One. Here’s part of their review:

“Such encounters are common in Burial at Sea, Episode One. It’s BioShock Infinite’s combat, retooled for BioShock’s underwater city, but with fewer available resources than you’d find in either game. The resulting mix of scavenging and desperation ensures that you’ll use the entirety of its systems – Plasmid, gun, Gear, and tear – out of a natural necessity for survival, rather than simply because they were there. For all this DLC’s mysteries, twists and, yes, disappointments – and as clumsily as Infinite’s tools have been massaged into Rapture’s structure – it’s the most fun I’ve had fighting crazed magical addicts.” – Phil Savage, PC Gamer
