Contrast (360/PC/PS3/PS4) – Polygon Review

Polygon has a review posted for Compulsion Games’ and Focus Home Interactive’s Contrast, which will be a launch title for PlayStation 4. Here’s some of the review:

“The story Contrast tells is so simple and predictable that to explain the set-up might spoil the whole thing. I will say the male characters are both human and flawed, a rarity in a video games; One mid-act detour explored a man’s feeling of inadequacy in the face of more talented, intelligent, brave women. There’s proof throughout the adventure, albeit in small doses, that the game intends to say something. But Contrast never quite makes clear what it wants to say or how it wants to say it.” - Chris Plante, Polygon

The Verge has posted a first impressions article looking at the PS4 ahead of their full review. Here’s part of the impressions:

“Then there’s the DualShock 4 controller, which takes its traditional gamepad layout and adds a touchpad up front, flanked by “Options” and “Share” (the new “Start” and “Select”), and a large glowing-light sensor that functions both to indicate certain in-game events (it turns red when you’re low on health, for instance) and to act as a Move-like wand when paired with the PlayStation Camera. Sony’s controller now charges with Micro USB and has a built-in 3.5mm headset jack that supports smartphone headsets, if you’re not happy with the mono earbud it provides.” - Sean Hollister, The Verge

playstation 4 console image 1 PlayStation 4 CVG Launch System Review

CVG has posted their review for the PlayStation 4 console ahead of it’s launch tomorrow, November 15th. They break it down in separate sections talking about the controller, UI, and the system in general. Here’s part of the review:

“This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the launch games on the PlayStation 4 look absolutely enthralling. Throw in Killzone Shadow Fall and you’ll be greeted by an audiovisual delight unlike anything previously experienced on consoles. Characters look alive, and the environments are absolutely gorgeous. Battlefield 4 also serves as a great example of the system’s power when it comes to rendering realistic warzones, and features blisteringly fast multiplayer.” - Jonathan Cooper, CVG

Evening LOL – Portal Drinks

Well to me it’s pretty clear that this picture shows 2 separate pieces of silverware, but it’s still cool nonetheless. Though I have to wonder what would’ve prompted someone to put a fork in their drink…?
