Grimm Bros has announced a new RPG coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, & PC. It’s called Dragon Fin Soup. Grimm Bros describes it as “part roguelike and part classic console RPG.” Gameplay is similar to that of Chocobo’s Dungeon & Secret of Mana. Dragon Fin Soup will featured two game mode, Story & Survival. Story is your classic RPG mode with emphasis on the storyline, characters, etc. Survival is Roguelike and will feature permanent death. DFS will be a version of turn based, similar to Shiren or Chocobo Dungeon (that is, enemies will take their turns at the same time as the player). The game is set on a giant turtle named Asura. One character in the game is named Red Robin. She is partially based on Red Riding Hood, but revamped with an adult edge. DFS will feature crafting, gathering, fishing, story-based missions, random quests, day & night cycles, and lots more. Dragon Fin Soup has a Kickstarter campaign currently in progress. You can check out the official website and the Facebook page for Dragon Fin Soup to find out more information about the game.

Crytek Announces CryEngine Service Program, For A Fee

cryengine logo 300x37 Crytek Announces CryEngine Service Program, For A Fee

It’s starting to look like a trend now. First Unreal Engine 4, now CryEngine. Crytek has announced that will be offering their CryEngine to developers outside of Crytek. It be an “Engine-as-a-Service (EaaS) program.” What this means is that developers will get access to CryEngine just like Crytek would use, if they are willing to pay a monthly per user fee. Crytek is offering the service to indie developers first, starting in May. They will be required to pay $9.90 per user for access to the engine. Unlike with Unreal Engine 4, Crytek is not charging indie devs a royalty fee on sales of games created with its software. This is a fairly recent version of CryEngine that is being offered as it includes recent additions to the software such as Physically Based Shading, Geometry Cache, & Image Based Lighting. They also said the current CryEngine free SDK will still be available, but for developers who want to utilize the new features, they will be required to subscribe to the EaaS program. Crytek plans to share more details about the program at a later date.

If you’re itching for more Assassin’s Creed action, you might just be in luck because it looks like there is not one, but two new Assassin’s Creed games on the way this Fall. The first is being called (for now) Assassin’s Creed: Unity or perhaps Assassin’s Creed Unity. According to the rumors, Unity is set in Paris during the French Revolution and the protagonist will be an assassin named Arno. It appears this will be set after the Ezio timeline, as the NeoGAF poster reported the character brandishing a handgun. Scenery in the game appeared to be of the Victorian Era style, which would be a few years after the real life French Revolution. You will have your own villa which might be Ezio’s villa from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Arno’s assassin’s clothing is blue with hints of red, similar to what the knights wear in The Order: 1886. Unity is set to release on PlayStation 4 & Xbox One.

According to Kotaku, there is also a second Assassin’s Creed game in the works called (for now) Assassin’s Creed Comet or perhaps Assassin’s Creed: Comet. This is apparently a different game from Unity and it is for PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360. One or both titles might see release on PC, but that is up in the air. There is no news of Wii U versions for either game.
