Bungie COO Pete Parsons Discusses Destiny Launch Performance

destiny screen 18 300x168 Bungie COO Pete Parsons Discusses Destiny Launch Performance

You might be wondering about how Bungie’s Destiny will fare in terms of server performance at launch, given that it is an always online game, will be spread across four consoles, is a big name release, and other always online games have had launch problems the past few years. Well according to Bungie COO Pete Parsons, the team is well prepared for the launch of Destiny saying:

“We have been actively preparing. It’s always scary and exciting and to put your work out in front of people who are judging it but it’s also scary to put it out there because you’re testing whether it’s going to work or not. They’ve really learned a lot over the last year, so we take it super seriously and we’ve been planning for a long time.”

So it will remain to be seen whether or not the anticipated title can survive the launch rush when the game releases this September, but Bungie seems confident that things will go well for Destiny.

Hyrule Warriors (WU) – More Details From Famitsu

WiiU HyruleWarriors logo E3 300x179 Hyrule Warriors (WU) More Details From Famitsu

Game Jouhou has provided more info about Hyrule Warriors that was included in the latest issue of Famitsu. Siliconera has posted the translated details about the upcoming Wii U crossover between Dynasty Warriors & The Legend of Zelda.

The character named Lana will be a character created specifically for Hyrule Warriors and her full name is Lana the White Witch. She will battle enemies using a book with magical abilities like creating walls. The walls will be destructible as well, which will damage nearby foes.

The Hookshot, a popular series staple item, is confirmed for the game according to Famitsu. Like in other Zelda games, it will be used to allow players to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Another item (of sorts) confirmed was the doomsday moon from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Siliconera says that this is an attack from an item, though what that item is remains to be seen.

A final brief detail was mentioned about Agitha, another new character recently revealed. Her attacks will feature her using a parasol as her weapon and will also feature the ability to summon insects for damaging foes.

Rumor: The Last Of Us Remastered PS4 Bundle Coming Soon?

amazon france the last of us remastered ps4 bundle 300x133 Rumor: The Last Of Us Remastered PS4 Bundle Coming Soon?

If you haven’t yet picked up The Last Of Us on PlayStation 3 and don’t own a PlayStation 4 either, it looks like you might be able to get them both together, at least in Europe. Amazon France has a listing posted for a bundle featuring a black 500 GB PlayStation 4 console along with a copy of The Last of Us Remastered with a price of €429.99 scheduled for release on July 30th. A PS4 by itself is listed at €394.90, a difference of €35.09. The game itself is listed for €49.90. So if you bought both separately, you’d be paying €444.80. Thus if this bundle is indeed real, you’ll be able to save yourself €14.81 by purchasing it instead of the individual items themselves.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto Talks Unification Of Consoles & Portables

shigeru miyamoto Nintendos Shigeru Miyamoto Talks Unification Of Consoles & Portables

Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo recently spoke with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto about the possibility of Nintendo one day having a unified system between consoles & handhelds. Miyamoto-san said in regards to this topic:

“So certainly I think there is possibility in that area in the future…So as we move forward, we’re going to look at what we can do to unify the two development environments…if you have two devices that have different specs and you’re being told to design in a way that the game runs on both devices, then that can be challenging for the developer—but if you have a more unified development environment and you’re able to make one game that runs on both systems instead of having to make a game for each system, that’s an area of opportunity for us.”

So it appears that Nintendo is thinking about possibly bridging the gap between consoles and handhelds. Perhaps their next system(s) will be a merger between two types of platforms? Nintendo has already done this in a somewhat limited form with Wii U. With Off-TV play, you can play full Wii U games on the GamePad screen even when you’re not right next to the console, though the range is fairly limited. Likewise, Sony has a similar feature between the PlayStation 4 & PlayStation Vita called Remote Play that allows players to play PS4 games on the Vita, using it as a GamePad-like device. But unlike on Wii U, with the Vita, you can be on a different network (i.e. not home) and still be able to use Remote Play, though the experience may suffer from latency and other technical issues. Microsoft has dabbled with the technology as well, though in a much more limited form with Xbox SmartGlass. So it’s possible all three of the major hardware manufacturers may be pursuing this type of scenario with future systems. We’ll have to wait and see to find out as we’re probably at least 4-7 years away from the next generation of consoles.

Sony has announced that they will be releasing the Wave Blue DualShock 4 Controller in North America this Fall. It has already been released in Europe & Japan, so it’s not too surprising to see it announced for North America, but it’s still nice to get official confirmation. A Glacier White version will be releasing the same day as Destiny, September 9th, and an Urban Camouflage version is scheduled for this Fall as well.
