  • MCA Video Games & Atari form a joint venture who purpose was to create coin-operated video games, home video games, and computer software based on MCA properties.

1984

  • King’s Quest: Quest for the Crown is released for IBM-compatible PCs by & IBM & Sierra On-Line.

2000

  • The world premiere showing of Metal Gear Solid 2 on PlayStation 2 is held at Universal Studios in California.
  • During a pre-E3 press conference, Sony announces launch details for the PlayStation 2 At Sony Studios in Los Angeles, California. The price was set at $299.99 with a release date of October 26the. Sony also announced that there would likely be 51 games available at launch, with Sony’s games to retail at $49.99 each. They announced that the console would include one DualShock 2 controller bundled in while extra controllers, an 8 MB card, and a multitap attachment would be other available accessories and would retail for $34.99 each. Sony also revealed that the PS2 would feature DVD playback.

2002

  • The Afterburner Light Kit for the Game Boy Advance is released in the U.S. by Triton Labs.

2004

  • Microsoft holds their E3 press conference in Los Angeles, California. During the event, a video is shown titled The Novice. In the video, Donald Trump makes an appearance where he pokes fun at fake Sony executives, and praises Microsoft executives for their online video game strategies. Also during the event, Microsoft announces the release date for Halo 2 as November 9th and that it will feature multiplayer support. Electronic Arts also announces support for Xbox Live, stating that it will be included in their games going forward.
  • The Dear Friends: Music From Final Fantasy concert is held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California. The show lasts for two hours, and was sponsored by Square Enix. The conductor was Miguel Harth-Bedoya and he lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and Los Angeles Master Chorale in performing fourteen songs composed by Nobuo Uematsu from the Final Fantasy series of video games.
  • Future Tactics: The Uprising is released for the GameCube & PlayStation 2 in North America by Zed Two, Crave Entertainment, & JoWood Productions.

2005

  • Haunting Ground is released for the PlayStation 2 in North America by Capcom.

2006

  • The Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) is held over a period of three days in Los Angeles, California.
  • Nintendo President Satoru Iwata says at E3 that Nintendo is unlikely to produce a new version of the Game Boy Advance in the future. This would prove correct as the system was officially discontinued in Japan in 2006 and elsewhere over the next two years. Meanwhile, the DS line would take over where the Game Boy line left off and continues to this day.
  • SiN Episodes: Episode 1 is released for the PC by Ritual Entertainment.

2007

  • Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is released for the Xbox 360 in North America by EA Los Angeles & Electronic Arts.

2011

  • Brink is released for the PC, PlayStation 3, & Xbox 360 in North America by Splash Damage & Bethesda Softworks.
  • LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game is released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Portable, DS, & 3DS in North America by Traveller’s Tales & Disney Interactive Studios.
  • MX vs. ATV Alive is released for the PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360 by THQ Digital Phoenix & THQ.
  • Virtua Tennis 4 is released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, & Wii in North America by SEGA-AM3 & Sega.

2012

  • Nexuiz is released for the PC via Steam in Europe by Illfonic & THQ.
  • Starhawk is released for the PlayStation 3 in Japan by LightBox Interactive, SCE Santa Monica Studio, & Sony Computer Entertainment.

2013

  • The Walking Dead (Retail Version) is released for the Mac, PC, PlayStation 3, & Xbox 360 in Europe by Telltale Games.
  • Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine is released for the Xbox 360 by Pocketwatch Games & Majesco Entertainment.
