Saga Thoughts For June 6th, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the lack of updates the past week or so. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a full time job and sometimes I get busy at that and don’t get as much time to work on the site as I would like. I think things will be quieting down with that next week hopefully, which is just in time considering E3 is next week. We’re going to do our best to provide live blog coverage of all the press conferences, but as Microsoft and EA’s are during the day, there may be times where coverage is momentarily interrupted due to my job. I apologize in advance for delays with that. And if for some reason we can’t provide live coverage, we will do a recap of the event after it is over. But the current plan is to do live coverage of all 5 conferences.

I’m also working through the next game I will be reviewing here on the site. Hopefully I’ll be able to post a review within the next week or so.

Thanks for reading and get excited because E3 is just around the corner!

Saga Thoughts For April 1st, 2014

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t written one of these in a while. Sometimes I inadvertently forget or just don’t have a whole lot to write about. But of course today (well yesterday now technically, since it’s nearly 2 AM as I’m writing this on April 2nd) was April Fools’ Day. Usually this means a variety of jokes, gags, and fake release announcements in the world of video games. Today was no exception. We had the usual shenanigans from the folks at Blizzard for example. We chose not to participate in this type of thing. Why? Because all it does is get people’s hopes up and then they feel dumb for believing it. I’m all for fun & games, but I think making something like Half-Life 3 into an April Fools prank isn’t cool, especially considering how badly people want that game and want it to be real.

So I hope you all took any too-good-to-be-true “news” today with a grain of salt and no one was too upset over pranks and the like pulled. I say give it a week or 2 and it should be out of everyone’s systems by then and we get back to not having to wonder if a story is true or fake. For the record, everything we posted on April 1st was true as far as we’re aware, unless otherwise noted.

Saga Thoughts For March 21st, 2014

Well today was a medium kind of day. What do I mean by that? Well on my way home this afternoon, my car window decided to fall out of the track completely so I get to get that fixed next week, hooray! Sigh, oh well, it happens.

But we did have some good news recently, that is that we finally have officially opened the GameSaga Forums complete with user registration & logins. I didn’t realize until recently that it hadn’t been set up to allow that, so I apologize for the inconvenience there and hope to see some insightful, funny, or topical comments from you all in the future. To sign up simply click here to go to the registration page and you can then login and start posting comments on any post on the site or topics in the forums or create your own forum topic.

Saga Thoughts For March 18th, 2014

Well yesterday we finally got confirmation on the long rumored PlayStation 4 Virtual Reality headset. It’s current name is Project Morpheus and you can read more about here. It’ll be interesting to see what Sony comes up with in terms of games for the device, along with other developers.

We also posted a full preview look at the upcoming gladiatorial combat MMO game Doom Warrior from Creaky Corpse. The game is pretty fun despite that you do a lot of the same thing (fighting opponents) over and over. There’s also 20 minutes or so of gameplay footage from the beta version of the game in the same article.

Saga Thoughts For March 15th, 2014

Today was a quiet day here on the site for the most part. I did have some more trouble getting posts to show up on Twitter & Facebook, but apparently this is a known issue for sites that use the same backend as we do. But I’ve found an alternative method that seems to be working okay for now until it can get fixed by the developers.

I finished the preview build of Kyn this evening. Very entertaining and highly recommended. I hope they offer gamepad support in the final version as I think that would make it even better and save my mouse from being clicked hundreds of times. We updated our preview with new info from the second half of the demo, so be sure to check that out to find out more about the game.

Saga Thoughts For March 13th, 2014

Well today I had trouble with some of the posts getting published to Twitter & Facebook, so if you got a lot of updates at the same time, I apologize. Hopefully this is resolved now. In other news, in the next day or two we’ll be profiling two upcoming indie games with full previews & extended gameplay footage, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. We’re also in the planning stages for our next review. We’ll have more to discuss about that next week most likely.

Saga Thoughts For March 12th, 2014

Well yesterday (the 12th) I spent a good deal of time trying fix the width issue on the site. If you were on the site during this time then you probably saw some things looking weird. We apologize for the issues. YouTube videos default to be wider than our layout allows, so I was trying to get that to work. When I did though it broke something on the back end so I had to figure out a way around it to make everything work correctly. Eventually I got it as you can see from the videos we posted recently. I still have to go back and fix the older ones though, but they will be fixed eventually.

I hope everyone that picked them up is enjoying Titanfall & Dark Souls II. I know both had experienced some issues, but I guess that is to be expected with big releases. Hopefully everything will get sorted out soon if it hasn’t already.

Saga Thoughts For March 11th, 2014

Hello everyone! This is going to be a new (hopefully daily feature) on the site which we are calling Saga Thoughts. What are Saga Thoughts? Saga Thoughts are thoughts for the day — a recap of the day and/or the day’s events if you will. Think of it as us putting a wrap on the day, or perhaps putting the icing on the cake. This will serve as an alternative/addition to Top Storitorial (which will return eventually). This will allow us to share thoughts and the like that are worth mentioning and talking about, but not detailed enough for a Top Storitorial.

As you can see, we have rolled out a new design today for GameSaga. Thank you for bearing with us as we implemented the new design and worked out the kinks with the layout. Why did we switch to a new design? There are several reasons for this change. First and foremost, it is much easier to use from a back-end perspective and also from a front-end perspective (in my opinion). It’s a much cleaner layout and content is visible as soon as the page finishes loading instead of you having to scroll down to see the first post. It is also is a dark look compared to our previous light look. Your opinion might vary, but this is easier on the eyes to me (especially for night viewing).

Everything that was part of our previous design should still be there in some way, shape, or form. The current exception being the breaking news feed, which will be added again once there is some important breaking news to post (assuming it is compatible with our new layout). If there’s anything you see that’s missing, feel free to let us know either on this post, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or via e-mail.

Thanks for reading and supporting the site, we appreciate you stopping by.
