No Suda 51 Games Coming To Nintendo Systems Anytime Soon

suda 51 No Suda 51 Games Coming To Nintendo Systems Anytime Soon

GameRevolution recently spoke with Suda 51, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture and during this interview it was revealed that despite the fact that he himself plays a “a lot of 3DS titles,” he has no plans to bring anything new to Nintendo platforms. He didn’t provide any reasoning for this choice, but one would assume it might have something to do with the Wii U install base possibly or perhaps the perception that “mature” games don’t do well on Nintendo systems.

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U Will Let Players Charge Smash Attacks With C-Stick & No Z Button

GameXplain recently mentioned on their Twitter account that they discovered something new about Super Smash Bros. For Wii U during their E3 play through of the game. Unlike in previous Smash games, players will now be able to charge smash attacks using the C-stick by itself and will no longer have to hold the Z button at the same time to charge them. This should make performing smash attacks somewhat easier, especially for newcomers to the series.

Nintendo Originally Considered Creating Splatoon With Established Characters

splatoon logo 300x160 Nintendo Originally Considered Creating Splatoon With Established Characters

Game Informer recently interviewed Splatoon Producer Hisashi Nogami & Co-Director Tsubasa Sakaguchi about Splatoon. They discussed developing the game as well as creating a new IP for Nintendo. GI asked if Splatoon had ever been considered to be created with established characters and the response was:

“With us, first we’re making the game, and then we think what kind of characters we would use with it, and obviously, one of those choices is established IP.

Of course, the most important thing is what matches. What matches with the gameplay and the abilities you are giving to the player, the play style, and ultimately what graphically will match the game you want to make. In the case of this game, we found that it really had to be new characters to would fit this game we were making. It would be kind of weird if Mario got splattered with ink and then exploded.”

So in the planning stages, Nintendo had thought about using characters they had already created, but decided none of them would work well with Splatoon and thus decided to go in a new direction with the squid/human idea.

Mario Kart 8 (WU) – Mercedes-Benz DLC Confirmed For Western Release

In one of those you’ve got to see it to believe it types of stories, Nintendo has confirmed that North America & Europe will be receiving the Mercedes-Benz DLC for Mario Kart 8. This DLC will add the Mercedes-Benz GLA as a playable “kart” into the game.

My take: I’m sure Nintendo was paid a nice amount from Mercedes-Benz (at least I hope they were), but I’m not sure this type of thing really belongs in Mario Kart. If they want to make their own take on Forza or Gran Turismo and it include it with that, so be it, but it just seems odd and out of place to me for a Mario Kart game.

Rumor: The Legend of Zelda Wii U To Have Multiplayer Features?

the legend of zelda wii u screen 11 300x168 Rumor: The Legend of Zelda Wii U To Have Multiplayer Features?

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Zelda series Producer & Director Eiji Aonuma teased that next entry in the franchise may possibly have multiplayer features. In regards to a question from GI if Zelda U would have multiplayer, Aonuma-san said:

“The two-player functionality of Hyrule Warriors is actually something that has traditionally been done in the Dynasty Warriors series, but they’ve changed because of the hardware and the second screen on your GamePad. Instead of having a splitscreen on the television, you have one-player playing on the television and one on the GamePad. When I was talking back about making Zelda more than just a single-player experience? That’s something you will see in the future, maybe next year.”

So while it’s not confirmed that Zelda U will have multiplayer, it’s not denied either. The Zelda series has previously seen brief flirtations with multiplayer with 2002′s The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords on GBA and 2004′s The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures on GameCube as well as limited multiplayer with the Tingle Tuner functionality in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks also had multiplayer modes, but neither were part of the main quest. Thus far true multiplayer in the main story mode has not been added to the main games in the series (unless you count the Four Swords games as part of the main series [some would consider them spin-offs]). Perhaps that will change with Zelda U?

Areal (Multi) – Artwork, Details, & Kickstarter Link

West Games has announced that they are working on a spiritual successor to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It’s called Areal and the team will be launching a Kickstarter campaign for the game on June 26th. Areal is being developed by the teams behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro: Last Night. It will be open world and is set in a post-apocalyptic world. In Areal, civilization has crumbled due to something called Metamorphite. It winds up corrupting the entire world. Metamorphite is brought to the world by a meteor that impacted many years ago.

The story will not be linear. You’ll be able to choose how your character behaves and talks. Every action including killing and speaking will affect the storyline of the game. Unlike other games, Areal will not have a law type of system where you’re either good or bad depending on your actions. You’ll be able to make whatever choice you think is best for any situation without having to worry about how it will affect your standing.
